Tent City Update; This Concerns Forced Evictions at Ontario California Tent City ( one of the largest)

This 4 minute video gives the History of Ontario Tent City, actually many residents were encouraged to go there by authorities when Other Shelters were Full....then click the article- it updates that Forced Evictions have started there. ( just like Sacramento).
It is sad that we actually need to really examine these Camps and the situations that are involved, people that have been evicted now face forced eviction from the Ontario Tent City, when this has been their home and their community when they already lost their homes....Wouldn't it be better to accept these "campgrounds "and provide structure for those that are there ( ie plumbing and water) , then to evict them ? Where are they to go ? they ended up there due to an overloaded Shelter System.

That fenced in area that the city made seems, at first, like a good thing, and in some ways it may be. To me it seems more like a prison camp being set up to contain and control those who have lost their homes and jobs and have become homeless.

the thing is for years it did not have a fence- actually did not need one- it operated as a campground - and a community- people came and went....but still there was a core group of people that kept the peace and set up a semi-structure....

and they have had very little problem with crime etc ( there is some)...

the real reason for the fence according to people there- was to keep more people from coming- the past year the population has grown at a rapid rate...

I will post another story I did on watergate Summer- in Portland Oregon they have a community that could be a model- it's called the Dignity Project...

I called the tent city place today; I was a resident of Ontario YET they won't let me stay there. The reason they gave was "You have to be homeless for at least a year before you can come here" WTF!?!?!! I dunno what is wrong with this country; I could commit a crime and go to jail and have a place to sleep and food, yet as a law abiding citizen I have nothing. Homeless for a year first.....THAT IS INSANE!!!
